Hi, I attended the Lecture by Gil Penalosa at UJ on 16th May. I was very impressed to say the least! Now I need to get something going here in Joburg so we can catch up to you guys in Cape Town.
I have an appointment with Joburg MMC for Transport next week and would hate to waste the opportunity by not being prepared! Can you please help? All the info I have gathered so far is from abroad and nothing from SA.
Your assistance would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks
PoPs.
Hi there, I’m going to be in Gauteng next week, giving a presentation about the role of NMT in management of urban congestion (at CSIR on 19 June), Cllr Moosajee will be there too. Don’t be fooled and say you need to catch up to CT, our bike networks and planning leave a huge amount to be desired. City of eThekwini has done good work.
But I can meet you in Gauteng (I’ll be in Pretoria) or can chat by mail/phone. I can help you with heaps of info, and Cllr Moosajee is truly pro-NMT. She’s really an inspiration to all politicians and city officials.
Please have a look at http://www.bicycleregistry.co.za … its a recent initiative to register bicycles [all types of users] against your ID number … this toward a campaign to reduce bicycle theft in ZA.The site registration and logging of bicycles is free. Its privately funded by cyclists for cyclists. Your comments would be most appreciated.
Woodstock Albert Rd NMT meeting: we hear it’s the usual excuse, CoCT needs all that space for cars… @moonlightmass @CTBikeCommuter

@rideyourcity @moonlightmass @CTBikeCommuter Not really. It seemed more like property owners that were obstructive.

@rideyourcity There are 2 options. Bi-directional protected lane looks likely. Mustn’t stop pushing though. @beautifulbikect @moonlightmass
