Do you want better bike/public transport integration?

Then tell the City of Cape Town…

The City’s  draft 2011/2012 Integrated Development Plan (IDP) and Budget are open for public comment until 28 March 2011.

The current draft IDP focuses on eight strategic areas in order for the City to achieve its vision, successfully implement its strategic considerations and overcome its challenges. These are:
·         Economic development
·         Sustainable utilities, i.e. service delivery
·         Energy efficiency
·         Public transport
·         Housing
·         Safety and security
·         Health and social community development
·         Good governance and regulatory reform.

Public comments are crucial inputs for the approval of the draft IDP and Budget at the Special Council meeting of 11 May 2011.

These eight areas form the framework of the IDP, and function as internal strategic levers to facilitate shared growth and development, whilst enhancing urban efficiency and institutional effectiveness. A number of key objectives have been identified within each area to ensure that the City implements each focus area’s strategic intent. These objectives form the foundation from which strategies and the allocation of City resources can be managed.

The IDP is underpinned by a series of sector plans which have been prepared in the last few years. These plans include an Integrated Transport Plan and an Integrated Metropolitan Environmental Policy.
